Integrating A Mobile Application "Learn English Grammar" Into English Language Teaching

Learn English Grammar is a free learning application focusing on English grammar lessons from scratch to the highest level. It's a kid-friendly application that provides illustrations, listening sessions, and practices for each material to complete the engagement of grammar exercises. Students won't need an internet connection to operate this application. However, there are ads within the application for income.

Since Learn English Grammar is meant for learning English, then it's suitable enough to set it into English language teaching activities. And to make sure of how to integrate this application into teaching activities, below is the application evaluation rubric as a benchmark,
1. Relevance: As explained earlier, Learn English Grammar is a mobile-based application for learning English, especially in English grammar. No further explanation, a solid score of 4 will be given.

2. Feedback: Learn English Grammar gives the users simple feedback—it only tells whether your answer is correct or incorrectafter practicing. In my opinion, it happens because the application itself has explained each material thoroughly. Still, since specific feedback is provided by the application, a perfect score of 4 is reasonable.

3. Thinking Skills: Learn English Grammar focuses on honing students' evaluating, analyzing, and applying skills. By using this application, students could analyze and distinguish nouns, tenses, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, reported speech, etc. The feedback feature and exercises within this application help the students acquire such evaluating and applying skills. Then, a score of 3 is fair.

4. Ease of Use: Operating an application on a smartphone won't be a big problem for students. Yet, teachers must instruct some tips to the students on how to use it. For example, this application will not show ads if the smartphone's connection is switched off. Therefore, a score of 4 doesn't look excessive.

5. Engagement: The real problem when integrating this mobile application into learning activities is their orderliness. Learn English Grammar is a monotonous-looking application. There is no variation in learning activities. Thus, the teacher's role in making sure students properly utilize the application is essential. An average score of 2.5 is enough.

6. Sharing: Learn English Grammar is a self-study application where each activity the users do will be recorded in their database as long as the users don't uninstall the application from their phones. However, "Learn English Grammar" doesn't have a sharing feature, a feature that can make the user shares his learning milestone. Nevertheless, the students could share their accomplishments with their teacher by screen-shooting the screen. Then, a decent score of 3 is sufficient.

7. Accessibility & Cost: Learn English Grammar is accessible for every kind of smartphone. This application is 100% free to use. A score of 4 will be acceptable at the end of the scoring.

Learn English Grammar gets a solid score of 24.5/28. In addition, below are the other analysis result of integrating Learning English Grammar into teaching the English language:

- English teachers can use this application as a supporting cast for homework. Using this application means using a smartphone in the middle of classroom activities which could distract and lose students' focus on learning.

- The advantages that every learning medium and application gives are more options and references, including Learn English Grammar. They give teachers various alternatives for learning activities and English language material references.

- Learn English Grammar is a monotonous learning application. It has no variety of learning exercises.

- Learn English Grammar is a tremendous booster for self-studying grammar and provides listening boosters, too.
